Hello! I’m Jennie. Welcome to Travel Bravely.

I started Travel Bravely in 2019 when my family and I lived and traveled in Australia and New Zealand.

  • I strongly encouraged my husband to take a sabbatical from his job.
  • Our kids left American schools and enrolled in Australian schools.
  • We swapped houses (and cars) with perfect strangers.
  • We took care of other people’s pets in exchange for a place to stay.
  • We had amazing adventures on the other side of the globe.

I started Travel Bravely to Inspire you!​

Travel is my favorite thing to do.

I’ve loved travel since I was an exchange student in high school. I love the thrill of seeing new places, trying unknown foods, and learning about different people and cultures.

I’ve backpacked across Europe, led teenagers on wilderness adventure travel adventures, and taken epic cross-country road trips. I’ve lived the amazing and terrible bits of travel, plus everything in between.

As my three daughters grew up, I wanted them to be challenged by travel.

I wanted them to make new friends in a foreign country; to realize that the way we do something in the US is neither the only nor the best way; and to be uncomfortable, confused, a bit lost—and to thrive.

I wanted to take a break from the chaos of ordinary life, do memorable things as a family, and see the world together.

It was time to live abroad. 




I started Travel Bravely to inspire you to take a break from the daily grind and travel with your family.

It took bravery, creativity, and determination to make our travels happen, but it was worth every bit of effort.

Living abroad and traveling as a family was, indeed, life changing.

Now, post-pandemic, we’re traveling again. Stick around, because I have so much to share with you!

I’m going to share my advice and experience with you like you’re one of my best friends, so you get the real scoop on where to go and what to do.


My passion is helping travelers like you experience the world.

I want to help you make the most of each precious day spent traveling, whether you are on a weekend getaway, annual vacation, or the trip of a lifetime. 

I believe travel is for everyone. Travel Bravely supports inclusionary travel for people of all ages, backgrounds, identities, genders, beliefs, and abilities.

You don’t need to wait for the perfect time to travel (spoiler: there is never a “perfect” time) and you don’t need a fortune to see the world.

You can travel with young kids, travel with teens, travel solo, travel with a partner, or travel with friends. Just travel!

I encourage deep, enriching cultural immersion experiences over simply counting countries. I believe it’s the people who make the place.
